My daughter loves to play dress-up and where my jewelry. Since several of my pieces are quite fragile, I decided to make some especially for her. I have made several more that can be purchased from my store Moonstar Jewelry.

Book Review

I have been excited to learn how to create wire jewelry for a while now and have found there are a variety of 'how to' books available. I spent several hours searching through several books until I finally settled. Making Wire Jewelry and more (getting started series) is a great book for beginning wiring. It shows which tools are needed to created your collection as well as what type of wire to use for certain designs. I found the instructions were easy to follow and have made several great pieces. In addition to giving instruction on individual pieces, it also shows you how to make fasteners and other findings.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started making their own wire jewelry treasure.

More Life Changes

It seems that every time I think I get my life back on track another derailment occurs. My frustration level peaks and I find myself starting over once again. Let me explain. Since September my work status has been in a state of flux. First, I was laid off of one of the best jobs I ever had. I was prepared to be out of work for a month all the while 'knowing' it would only be a matter of weeks. A month went by, then another, and another. It took 3 months to secure another job. It was a part time teaching position which I am fortunate to have to this day. A part time job, however, does not pay the bills. During the next 4 months I found 2 short term contract jobs which recently came to an end. Now I find myself back to one part time teaching job with no prospects in site.

So you ask, what does this have to do on a jewelry blog? Well, let me explain. During my time off of work, I decided to rebuild my line of jewelry. I hit the ground running and was so excited by all the new designs I created. I opened my online store and started marketing my wares.

Unique, Handcrafted, Artisan Jewelry made with love, light, and positive energy. I love to design and create. Little did I realize that "If I make it, they will buy" doesn't really exist in the real world. It's more like, if I make it, market it, market it some more, tell all my friends to tell their friends, well.........I might sell a piece or two. It is more difficult than I thought it would be.

So, here I am at a crossroads. I have my part time teaching job. I have my jewelry website. I have my knowledge and skills that I would love to share. All this potential, but where does it lead me?

I will have to ponder this notion for the time being. Re-assess my situation, pool my resources and come up with a solution. I am certain the resolution will not be in black and white. It will be a colorful mix of hues. I cannot wait to live the outcome.

I feel like I have been out of the loop for a while. I have been busy looking for a job, so I haven't been as devoted to my jewelry as I would have liked. I hope to change that in 2009.

In the mean time, I have cut prices on all my christmas items on ETSY. Please check them out. Great deals. I will be cutting more prices before the year is out.

My hope is to make room for new and exciting items.

Hi all. Well, I thought I better let everyone know that I am preparing for a few of events. The first event is actually a christmas sale on my ETSY site. I am currently revamping and cutting prices on some items in addition to adding to my inventory. I hope to have the sale begin on Monday. I will keep you posted.

I have also been invited to have a Black Friday sale on my site, which I am preparing for. I will have more information on that and which site you can visit. I will be chatting live online for those of you who have questions or requests.

Finally, I will be vending at a craft show in Crystal. I will have further information on that as well.

Craft Show

Hi all. Well, I had my first craft show this past weekend. It was ok. I made a little profit, but I had hoped for better. I did, however, get a lot of networking in and handed out a ton of business cards. I also realized I didn't do a great job displaying my work. I got some great ideas though for next time.
